Art Therapy Sessions

Art therapy helps you to combine creative processes with psychotherapeutic explorations. Creative expression can powerfully channel emotions and deepen personal insight into your life and concerns. Through the use of imagery and the creative process, you can be helped to communicate what might be difficult to articulate with words alone.

Within an art therapy session I help people to explore and express symbolic and metaphorical material.  I strive to create a safe working environment where stories, thoughts and concerns can unfold.  Artwork may function as a window into your life experiences and a mirror of various aspects of yourself.

Creating art within an art therapy context:

- can enable you to communicate complex or emotionally laden material that may be difficult to access otherwise

- can provide you with means of externalizing concerns and seeing them from different perspectives

- can help you to symbolize vague feelings by creating tangible forms that can be developed over time

- can help you cultivate mindfulness skills and tools for coping with difficult thoughts and feelings
