What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a combination of the creative process and psychotherapy. Visual expression can be thought of as an additional language that encourages self-exploration and insights. Through the use of imagery and the creative process, clients are helped to communicate what can be difficult to articulate with words alone.

Art therapy is a therapeutic modality that is used to assist and empower people of all ages. Certification requires extensive graduate training and 700+ hours of supervised practicum experience. The field is deeply researched and has yielded promising results for people working through depression, anxiety, issues of self-esteem and a range of other concerns.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is based on both contemporary science and time honoured principles. It has its roots in ancient India, although variations of this practice exist within other cultures. In a Yoga Nidra session we move step-by-step, exploring various states of consciousness with the goal of muscular relaxation, mental expansiveness, emotional release and deep, restorative rest. Together we create an inner oasis of relaxation where we can develop valuable skills for handling stress, tension and fatigue.

Yoga Nidra Sessions consist of:

  • calming breath patterns

  • progressive muscle relaxation

  • guided imagery

  • and the setting of positive intentions

This practice takes place between wakefulness and sleep, in a powerful state of mind known for its impact on physical and mental rejuvenation, restoration and expansive states of mind and learning. As a comprehensive meditative and relaxation approach, this practice is particularly beneficial for those struggling with bouts of insomnia, stress, irritability or depression.
