What is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma is very subjective. Your life experiences and how they have affected you will be completely unique to you. This means that distressing situations where your brain and body has been shocked or overwhelmed can register as trauma.

How a situation impacts you depends on a variety of factors:

- level of distress tolerance
- access to coping strategies
- past negative or traumatic experiences
- particular expectations for the future
- a lack of social support
- pre-existing mental health challenges

If you are experiencing the symptoms of trauma or are unsure, I encourage you to reach out. Trauma therapy can help you gain some tools to cope, manage symptoms and work towards becoming free from the effects of trauma.

Some common signs of trauma are:

- avoidance of talking or doing anything that brings up the trauma

- feelings of despair or worthlessness
